Good news regarding “Sylva Sam”

Check out an excellent post regarding the Confederate memorial in Sylva, North Carolina via Dixie Forever:

“In July 2020, the Sylva Town Commission voted 3-2 to request Jackson County remove or relocate the statue, but on August 4, 2020, county commissioners rejected this by a 4-1 vote. In August 2021, as a ‘compromise,’ the county covered the Confederate flag and the ‘Our Heroes’ inscription with new metal plaques reading ‘E Pluribus Unum’ and stripped away the Confederate identity by rededicating it to honor all Jackson County veterans… In April 2025, Jackson County commissioners removed the ugly ‘compromise’ plaque that had been attached to the front for the past 4 years and restored it to its original condition (as shown).”
