Yesterday, President Trump planted a new descendant sapling of the Jackson Magnolia, a tree planted 200 years ago by President Andrew Jackson using seeds that he brought from his home, the Hermitage. A little piece of history that is cool to see.

When the Italian American Veterans Club in Elmira, New York, announced that it was closing its doors, the question arose of what to do with the two stone memorials that stood outside the club headquarters. One of these memorials honors those who served in World War II, while the other honors all living and deceased club members. Fortunately, a local cemetery called Forest Lawn Memorial Park volunteered to accept the monuments. Last month, the monuments were placed in the veterans’ section of the cemetery, on either side of a ceremonial cannon, where they can be appreciated by visitors at various events and services throughout the year.
