Lee-Jackson Day coming up
This post by the Virginia Flaggers has some details:
“Once again this year, The Virginia Flaggers will join the Stonewall Brigade in two full days of commemorations and events in Lexington, Virginia, and encourage ALL Southern heritage supporters to attend! It is more important than ever that we make a HUGE showing and show the town of Lexington, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the entire country that we don’t need the permission or approval of ANY government entity to do what is our duty and responsibility. We will kick things off Friday, January 17th at 10:00 am, and finish up with supper Saturday night, and invite you to join us for the full two days, or at any point when you can or wish to attend.”

Auction to support the Virginia Flaggers
The Virginia Flaggers are holding an auction to celebrate their 13th anniversary and to honor their founder, Barry Isenhour. They created this photo gallery to showcase the items that have been donated. The items include a beautiful “Johnny Reb” sculpture, a cross-stitch picture of Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson, a Nathan Bedford Forrest pin, a Robert E. Lee marble tabletop monument, various Confederate related fine art prints, and many more cool things. Regardless of whether you’re interested in participating (or able to), looking at the collection of Confederate memorabilia will bring a smile to your face.

Memorial Day at Lee-Jackson Park
A Memorial Day ceremony took place at Lee-Jackson Park yesterday, and photographer Judy Smith documented the happenings. Check out the wonderful images below, or on her Instagram page or Facebook page.
Things like this give me hope for the future.
